Adeodato Freire Pinto is a corporate lawyer with 20 years of experience in Corporate, Commercial, Projects, Finance Law, Intellectual Property and Compliance matters. He has a proven track record in advising executive leadership on legal strategy, regulatory compliance, corporate governance and risk management. He is proficient at handling complex commercial contracts, cross-border M&A, venture capital and infrastructure projects.
At ENODA, Adeodato is responsible for advising the executive team, offering legal counsel on various business matters, including commercial contract negotiation, corporate governance, and risk management. He is the main interface with external legal advisors, instructing them and owning the relationships. Adeodato ensures the company complies with all applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards, particularly in the utility, power and energy sectors. He also oversees corporate governance practices, ensuring transparency, accountability, and compliance. Adeodato leads contract negotiations for major transactions and partnerships, ensuring the protection of the company’s interests.
He develops and implements strategies to identify and mitigate legal risks to protect the company's reputation and assets, and provides legal support to the Executive team in any legal disputes.
Prior to joining ENODA, Adeodato worked for the Efacec Group – the largest Portuguese solutions provider for the electrical and electromechanical sector, with a presence in over 60 countries, where he acted as General Counsel and Secretary of the Company. Adeodato provided legal advice to the corporation and counselled the CEO and Board of Directors on legal, ethical and compliance issues, public policy, corporate citizenship, and country geopolitical matters, actively participating in high-level decision-making.
Adeodato has experience drafting and negotiating a wide range of commercial contracts, including complex EPC, FIDIC and international sales contracts, joint-ventures, consortium and distribution agreements. Has also advised and negotiated different financing agreements and operations, and participated in several cross-border M&A operations and investment projects. As Head of Legal, he managed pre-litigation strategies and legal disputes of different types and value, coordinating with external counsel across multiple jurisdictions.
Having been responsible for compliance and corporate governance areas, Adeodato is passionate about working with companies to ensure their activities conform to the best international practices in these fields. He is frequently engaged in transversal projects for organisations, contributing to and advising on their legal vision. In addition he regularly leads on risk mitigation measures and negotiates the alignment of different stakeholders within an organisation.
In the past, he has worked as external lawyer for Portuguese and Spanish Tier 1 Law Firms, where he advised several multi-national corporations on all corporate related matters. This involved participating in several M&A projects, including cross-border mergers. He has experience across a range of venture capital projects, advising investment funds and start-up companies, as well as clients in asset purchase agreements, companies' restructuring operations - particularly in the setting up of Joint Ventures, and in foreign investment projects.
Adeodato has a strong business acumen, is commercially proactive and experienced in managing legal teams in multinational environments. He is particularly interested in connecting with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures, and in building relationships where everyone contributes to a shared purpose or deeper mutual understanding.
