ENODA at the Centre for Doctoral Training

Over the past year, we have been fostering a relationship with The Universities of Edinburgh, Glasgow and Heriot-Watt Schools of Mathematics. One way in which we support the Schools, is as an industry partner to their current “Centre for Doctoral Training (CDT)”, in Algebra, Geometry and Quantum Fields.

CDTs are funded by the UKRI Research Councils. These PhD with integrated study programmes promote interdisciplinary study and collaboration with other universities and industrial partners, combining PhD study with taught courses, industrial placements and other training opportunities.

We are really proud to be one of their industrial partners, as not only does it give us a great opportunity to talk to an engaged future talent pool for ENODA, but most importantly, it gives the students an opportunity to see how they can apply their academic work in real-life.

Last week, our Head of Mathematical Validation, Conor Smyth and our Talent Acquisition Partner, Hannah Brand, presented to the first CDT cohort at the Bayes Centre.

Conor commented: “Being involved in the CDT offers a unique opportunity to collaborate with leading academic researchers and access developments in AI, data science, and cutting-edge mathematics.”

Hannah commented: “It’s no secret how important mathematics is to ENODA - we talk often about first principles and why our science needs to be mathematically sound. Making connections and working with the CDT is an excellent opportunity for us to collaborate with some of the finest minds in the maths world.”

A big thank you to Andy Todman, David Jordan, and Eichard Szabo for having us – we look forward to continuing this great work together.
