Gurudatha Pai, PhD
Senior Systems Architect
Gurudatha (Guru) leads the energy systems architecture at ENODA, investigating and understanding the current layout of energy systems and their future state. With this, he shapes the current technical and services capabilities of ENODA and helps create a roadmap for future products and services.
Guru has extensive experience in electrical energy systems monitoring and control, data analysis and software. He worked for General Electric (GE) in their network management centres of excellence in the USA and U.K. At GE Digital, Guru and his team developed and commercialised wide area monitoring, protection and control systems for regional and national transmission system operators. He participated and led many research efforts funded by GE, its utility customers and the U.S. Department of Energy.
Prior to joining ENODA, Guru was Senior Manager for Customer Solution Engineering. He was responsible for GE Digital’s technical solutions across the full value chain of the electricity grid, from asset management, to transmission operation in the Eastern Hemisphere, with overall business volume of circa 500M$ annually. At GE Digital, Guru started a new product line in grid data analytics and led the launch of a modern load frequency control product (now used by many European TSOs for grid balancing).
Guru holds a PhD in Statistical Signal Processing and System Identification. He has co-authored award-winning papers on the optimisation of power plants and holds a patent for estimation of electrical power system inertia. He is a senior member of the Institute of Electrical & Electronics Engineers (IEEE).
