ENODA Appoints Diego Tejada Evans as Chief Revenue Officer
ENODA is pleased to announce the appointment of Diego Tejada Evans as its Chief Revenue Officer. Based in Madrid, and a key member of the senior management team, Diego will drive growth for the company via various commercial relationships throughout the energy ecosystem, and specifically, networks.
Diego has a comprehensive background in energy and technology, having held leadership roles with companies including Innargi, Maersk Oil and TotalEnergies.
He is an avid supporter of building a strong work culture and looks forward to contributing both operationally and strategically to support the delivery of ENODA’s business goals.
We took 5 minutes with Diego to discuss his thoughts on joining ENODA.
You have an interesting career history – tell us how you think this will shape your work at ENODA
ENODA’s breakthrough technology addresses problems that are suffered by power grids all over the world. There is a fascinating job to be done in translating the intricacies of the solution into bottom line results for our customer. We can show how, for the first time, it will be possible to leverage the different components of the network to create value for all parties involved in reliably delivering electricity to the end users. The dialogue with prospective beneficiaries of this innovation will build on some of my experience where commercial and technical building blocks need to be articulated to clearly communicate the worth of the opportunities at stake.
Why did the role at ENODA excite you?
When I first heard about ENODA, I immediately felt I had stumbled upon a powerful vision. While we see electrification and renewable power generation taking most of the attention these days, the viability of scaling up to the ambitious levels pledged by public and private sector players, relies on the capacity of the networks to take the energy where it’s needed, and balance the fluctuations of supply and demand in an intelligent way.
Although experts have always been aware of current system constraints, it is only now that we see mainstream media addressing the need to bring legacy power infrastructures into the future, shedding some light on a longstanding blind spot of energy transition plans.
As the conversations with ENODA progressed, I got to know the founders and understand more about the technology and business impact potential. I felt attracted by their courage to deal with the engineering complexity of real time balancing, and impressed by their successful track record to get where the company is today. The combination of entrepreneurial boldness in ENODA’s culture, the stakes of crushing one of the biggest roadblocks on the path to clean energy, and the chance to help join the dots at a global scale to drive positive change, is what excited me to take this role.
What will be the greatest opportunity for you at ENODA, and what do you think might be the greatest challenge?
The greatest opportunity for me at ENODA, having come from a variety of different experiences, is to add one more perspective to the already strong thought-diversity of the teams. Being an engineer with a passion for all things “techie”, and having interfaced with people in different continents, using different languages, with different ways of working, I see a chance for me to broadly raise awareness internationally. Ultimately, I will help decision makers globally see the benefits ENODA can unlock for them.
The greatest challenge can be found as a flipside of the greatest opportunity and is common to any innovation: overcoming scepticism. Some might say that it wouldn’t really be so extraordinary if it didn’t elicit some sort of disbelief at first.
Yet, I am confident that many of the disruptions we have seen in the past decades were also deemed unbelievable at first and are now simply taken for granted, embedded in everyday life. When it comes to ENODA, concrete performance improvements in the grids, and the gains they generate can both be measured, and nothing dispels doubt better than evidence.
What does success look like for you in this role?
ENODA’s technology is capable of tackling multiple issues. They are systemically conceived. For me, success will be to understand the pain points of the prospective customers in the different markets, and offer the new technology’s best fitting features that make their most urgent worries go away. I do believe that this would then become just the first in a series of accretive value creation interactions with each client, where compelling results will naturally drive the adoption of what we have to offer.
