Professor Ryan Williams Appointed Practitioner Director to the Financial Management Association International Board

Edinburgh, 6 August 2025 – ENODA is pleased to announce that its Chief Economist, Professor Ryan Williams, was recently appointed as Practitioner Director of the Financial Management Association International (FMA). This followed an election process to determine the most suitable candidates. It also follows the announcement last year of Ryan’s appointment to the UK’s Regulatory Policy Committee.

The FMA is an organisation dedicated to developing and disseminating knowledge about financial decision making.

The Practitioner Director on the FMA board serves as a critical bridge between academic research and real-world financial practice. Ryan will be responsible for representing the interests of practitioners, while supporting the work of the Vice President in charge of Practitioner Services. This includes identifying topics of high relevance for practitioners and translating academic findings into actionable insights.

Ryan Williams commented: “I am thrilled to be elected as a Practitioner Director on the FMA Board alongside a number of outstanding academics and practitioners.

It’s a privilege to bring a perspective shaped by both academic research at Imperial Business School and real-world application at ENODA, where we’re building the future of distributed energy systems.”
